Donald Trump gambled his entire political capital on his shock-and-awe tariff campaign. And after a tumultuous week in the markets, it seems to have paid off.

It took nerves of steel for the president to defy the stock market plunge, the stern newspaper editorials, the increasingly urgent advice of bankers and billionaires, and “people … getting a little bit yippy,” as he put it.

BE COOL! Everything is going to work out well,” he wrote on Truth Social before slapping a 125 percent tariff on China and resetting the rest of the world to 10 percent while instituting a 90-day pause for negotiating new trade deals with 75-plus countries in bespoke personal fashion.

The genius of Trump’s salesmanship is that it doesn’t matter whether he executed a well-thought-out strategy to isolate China by goading it into calling his bluff or simply snatched a last-minute victory from potential ruin when the bond market went nuts Tuesday night.

A win is a win, and he will make it work to America’s best advantage.
