Eleanor Holmes Norton is the congressional Delegate who represents Washington, D.C. in Congress in the House. She’s represented the district for over thirty years. She’s a member of the Congressional Black Caucus and the Progressive Caucus. She also serves on both the Committee on Oversight and Reform as well as the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
When last we wrote about Holmes Norton, it was when she denied involvement in the release of zebras running around D.C. Seriously.
In December she sent a letter to House Democrats asking for their support for her being chair or ranking member of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure in the next Congress, since the present chair, Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-OR), is retiring. But Rep. Rick Larsen (D-WA) has also declared his interest in the position.
According to Roll Call, both are next in line of seniority on the Committee, and both hold positions as chairs of the two most powerful subcommittees — Norton chairs the Highways and Transit Subcommittee, while Larsen chairs the Aviation Subcommittee. Given the fact that the bipartisan infrastructure act passed not too long ago, whoever is the chair is going to be presiding over a lot of things coming down the pike.
But Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) had some thoughts about Norton’s request, and his hilarious response it lighting up the internet. He posted a video of Norton trying to park her car. Talk about Democrats going in the wrong direction! This is both hilarious and truly scary.
