As an expat I flew to the UK to be with my parents for their last few months, and I estimated their care costs (MRIs, surgeries, hospitalizations) would have cost $750,000 in the US. Their cost = $0. In the US, I was forced to change healthcare providers after Trump’s non renewal of ACA insurance support. New plan has no pre-existing conditions. I got an infection on a prior knee replacement, got sepsis, hospitalized, $100k later and no more 401k funds. In the UK that would have cost $0. Hey but this is just a real world case.
