There was a big spotlight on the fraud in Minnesota this past week.
Not only was the fraud massive, involving reportedly over a billion in taxpayer dollars, but there were also many questions about how this happened and was allowed to continue.
Both the House Oversight Committee and the Treasury Department have launched investigations. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said they were also looking into the reports that money may have been “diverted to the terrorist organization Al-Shabaab.
Both Bessent and Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN-5) separately appeared on Sunday with Margaret Brennan on Face the Nation.
Brennan asked Omar about the fraud, which appears to involve have been perpetrated by a number of Somalis. Her response was not great, as she argued that Somalis were victims in this, too.
